Properties: black brown hexagonal crystal. Density 2.898g/cm3. Melting point 306℃. Boiling point 315℃(decomposition). Soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone diethyl ether. Its aqueous solution is acidic and corrosive. After hydrolysis, brown flocculent ferric hydroxide is formed, which has strong cohesion. Easy deliquescence. It is a strong oxidizing agent. The waste iron scrap (wire) is added to the steel vertical reactor, and the chlorine gas is injected into the reaction, and the ferric chloride vapor is generated and discharged from the top, and is condensed and collected into solid crystalline products. It is used as a water purification agent for drinking water and a precipitating agent for wastewater treatment, an oxidant for indigo dyeing and a mordant for printing and dyeing, a chlorination leaching agent for silver and copper ore, an etching agent for electronic industry circuit boards and photographic plates. It is a raw material for making iron salts such as iron phosphate, medicine, pigment and ink, and is used as coagulant when recovering glycerin from waste liquid in soap production. High purity products are used in epitaxy and diffusion processes in semiconductor production
