On October 28 local time, police in New South Wales, Australia, issued a statement confirming that an explosion at an underground mine in the state's western inland region had resulted in two fatalities and one injury, with relevant investigations gradually commencing.

The incident occurred at around 3:45 a.m. that day. Emergency services were the first to receive reports of an accident at a mine near the town of Cobar, approximately 560 kilometers northwest of Sydney, with two people in critical condition.

Upon arriving at the scene promptly, police and rescue personnel learned that one man had died at the scene in the explosion. Subsequently, two trapped women were successfully rescued to the surface. However, one of them tragically succumbed to her injuries despite resuscitation efforts, while the other, suffering from hearing damage and symptoms of shock, was urgently airlifted to a hospital for further treatment.

Police stated that they will assist the occupational health and safety regulator in investigating the cause of the incident.

According to reports, the "Endeavour Mine," where the explosion occurred, is an underground silver, zinc, and lead mine owned by an Australian mining company.
